Reasons for the project 

  • To boost the resilience of SMEs through the adoption of photonics technologies, services, and products in key industrial sectors
  • To deepen cross-sectoral innovation collaboration between the key stakeholders along the photonics value chain at the EU level
  • To maximize the innovation potential of photonics technologies for SMEs by providing skilling & reskilling services
  • To accelerate SME internationalization through business mission organization and connection with existing partners
  • To implement a robust communication strategy to maximize the visibility and impact of the project
  • To develop a long-term support services strategy ensuring the sustainability of the Eurocluster alliance

Planned outcomes: 

  • Financing of innovation projects through vouchers for SMEs
  • Encouraging the adoption of process innovations, to achieve digitization and sustainability of businesses
  • Business missions into Canada, Japan, and Singapore
  • Training support offer dedicated to the most pressing needs of European SMEs through training vouchers
  • Organizing networking events to connect European SMEs through B2B meetings, business missions, matchmaking, etc.
  • Creation of a package of training vouchers divided into two categories: green transition and internationalization

  • Support of inter-branch cooperation between the cluster organizations and SMEs

Reasons for the project:

  • Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in industrial ecosystems facing challenges and changes due to rapid and unexpected global events such as the COVID-19 crisis and the war in Ukraine.
  • Addressing common challenges in these sectors, such as transitioning to more sustainable practices, competitiveness amidst decreasing raw materials and rising energy costs, and changing consumption habits.
  • Strengthening SMEs' resilience to become active players in these changes rather than passive observers or followers.
  • Developing strategic foresight, supporting technology adoption, and improving supply chains to minimize disruptions' impacts on value chains.

Planned outcomes:

  • Development of strategic foresight and tools for analyzing and predicting changes in industrial ecosystems.
  • Support for the adoption of advanced technologies in SMEs and establishment of alliances between technologically advanced and traditional businesses.
  • Identification of critical dependencies and weaknesses in supply chains to minimize disruptions' impacts on value chains.
  • Implementation of pilot projects and support for collaboration between different industrial ecosystems.
  • Development of relevant tools and methodologies to improve competitiveness and sustainability in selected industrial sectors.
